Practicing the "real" Huna
Since my forger brought it up, and since he thinks like a Western Christian Civilization type of guy, and therefore misunderstands more than he understands, I thought I should post a "correction" on his lack of due diligence.
Just before Max died, he adopted at least three people who, he hoped, would perpetuate Huna in three different ways or styles.
There was Dolly Ware, and her "Max Freedom Long Memorial Library".
Dr. E. Otha Wingo, and his "Huna Research, Inc."
And myself, and what Max hoped would become a community based religion, the "Huna Heiau Church".
Each of us is practicing "true or real" Huna, but in very different ways and from vastly different perspectives.
Vince Wingo has taken over a lot of the HRI work, and is doing a good job at it.
As far as the people here I enter into virtual thumb-wrestling with, Ken and Martyn et al are most likely very fine individuals who are practicing the "real" Huna as they see it. My joy in combat with them comes from the opportunity to discuss parts of Huna, which would NEVER have been brought up otherwise. For example, HRI Huna Teacher's Certification, the three Huna Holidays (for those practicing Huna as a religion) and all the rest.
Ken and Martyn and I enter into these "battles" so that those who come here and read them might better understand our POVs.
As far as anyone "worshipping" Max Freedom Long, he wrote a lot about Huna, coined the name, but he was second in line. Kahuna Nui William Tufts Brigham, PhD was first. Then Max, but he was also trained by Kahuna Nui Baron Eugene Fersen.
Then the third layer of Huna were: Kahuna Kingsley-Tarpey, Kahuna Vern Cameron, Kahuna Fred Kimball, Kahuna Oscar Brunler, Kahuna Beau Kitselman, Kahuna Nora Weeks. And of course, our scholar, Dr. Martin Larson.
Then the next generation (the fifth) was Dr. E. Otha Wingo, Dolly Ware and myself.
The next layer or generation is Kahuna John K. Pollard, and the two Kahunas I've trained and ordained according to the laws of the State, which has chartered the Huna Heiau Church.
Now, where anyone gets that I "worship" Max Freedom Long, that great man, from the long list of other great men and women of the Huna Kupuna (Huna Elders) is beyond me.
But then my forger is of the lolo persuasion, no doubt.
