GREAT article!! - Thanks for posting it!

I've often thought about the "3 selves" issue myself, and have also discovered that Hawaiians
have no concept of it. I hadn't thought about the influence of Theosophy being a factor in MFL's
concept of the 3 selves. I had come up with another theory. When Hawaiians refer to the Aumakua,
they are most often referring to family spirits/gods, to which they relate VERY strongly, and
(even today) rely on for guidance and advice. That concept poses some problems for many Christians,
and so I suspeceted that MFL may have incorporated it the way did to avoid creating a major
conflict for Christians (which would certainly be an understandable concern in the US).

Also, I wanted to add a comment about consciousness being located in the area of the abdomin. The
comments in the article were right on target. Additionally, the Hawaiian word "na'au" is often
used in the sense of "heart" or "center."

I think TRYING to shift our self perception from our heads at least as low as the heart or solar plexis
chakra areas is worth trying, maybe like at least once a day.

Aloha pumehana,
Bill Taylor
