In my experience with native Hawaiian healers - there were no "initiations" - although there were aptitude tests and integrity checks.
"Huna Initiations" seemed to be a fancy way for American trainers to demand a lot of money for esoteric mumblings that reflected Western alchemy much more than pre-Christian Hawaiian mysticism.
