I met some MFL type "Huna Trainers" in Europe - none of whom had been to Hawaii, and I have read most of MFL's books, which provide a simplistic if not oversimplified model of consciousness.

Having lived on Big Island with "native Hawaiian" healers, I comment about the enormous disparity between how these healers HEAL and the books about Huna, of which I have read (too?) many, and some (expensive) "Huna" courses I took with American trainers whilst in Hawaii.

The healers all knew about MFL's 3-mind model from his books - but it is NOT traditional knowledge. Other trainers peddle alchemical and Hermetic stuff as "Huna".

I learned about the dark side of Hawaiian ho'omanamana from Uncle John Kaimikaua (Molokai), and about the light of ho'oponopono and lomilomi from Papa Henry (Hilo), Aunty Miriam (South Point)and Aunty Margaret (Kealakekua).

There was no talk of "initiations" - we talked about effective ways for healing individuals and families. We talked in English, with some references to Hawaiian words. The goal was never intellectual one-upmanship, nor even mental understanding, but compassionate and long-term alleviation of suffering.

I was given a Hawaiian name and I was called a "kumu" by Aunty Margaret - and so what? It does not affect my capabilities one iota. If I need "prestige" to heal effectively, I'm probably in the wrong place.

I learned much in Hawaii that has become a basis for many training programs for coaches and psychotherapists, in Europe and Canada. We mostly call this Soulwork - although Aumakua-work might be more fitting - as we work with "the soul of the family". Maybe visit us (in Poland) at www.soulwork.top.pl.

But this site will likely be of interest only to healers and therapists. We do not cater to self-indulgence nor egotism.
